Ginger & Turmeric Spiced Limeade

A refreshing drink to help ease inflammation.

When you were younger, or even now,  did anyone recommend that you eat ginger or drink ginger ale when you have an upset stomach? 

I can remember my mom telling me to drink ginger ale when my tummy wasn’t feeling too great.  Did you get the same advice? 

We know that drinking soda is not good for us but eating ginger is one of the best things you can add to your dietary regime.

Ginger has been used for thousands of years to treat ailments associated with inflammation, including stomach aches!

Turmeric is a powerhouse anti-inflammatory and together with ginger it can help relieve symptoms associated with migraines, arthritis, and achy joints. 

It is best to drink it fresh, however, if you want to make a pitcher to share or drink throughout the day, just double or triple the recipe.

Ginger & Turmeric Spiced Limeade

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Servings: 1

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (250ml) water

  • 1 lime

  • 1/8 cup grated turmeric

  • 1/4 cup grated ginger

  • 1 tsp honey (or a bit of stevia)

  • Ice

Optional: mint

Directions:

  1. Bring water to a boil and cool slightly, until warm.  

  2. While the water is boiling, juice half the lime and slice the rest into wedges.

  3. Once the water has cooled slightly, add the turmeric and ginger to it and place it in the fridge for 5 minutes. 

  4. Strain the liquid into a glass of ice and add the lime juice and honey.

  5. Garnish with mint and a lime wedge

  6. Enjoy!
