Eating a colourful diet is one of the best ways that you can help protect yourself from preventable diseases. Today we will chat about how orange foods are important for aging well.
The previous post was titled Eat Your Greens. If you haven’t already, check it out…you may be surprised at all the benefits you will get from eating green fruits and vegetables.
Today we will discuss the color orange and why they are important and should be included in our daily diets.
Beta carotene is what gives food its orange color and basically beta carotene is an antioxidant that helps us to stabilize free radicals that are found in our bodies. And, we do not want the free radicals to grow in numbers! Otherwise we will have cellular and tissue damage which leads to oxidative stress.
Our bodies will convert the beta carotene into vitamin A and this vitamin is an essential nutrient which means we need to get it from the foods we eat.
In addition, they are also a great source of vitamin C, B6, potassium, lutein, folate, and fibre.
